For US mental health practices
The note is written by the time the session ends.
Alba sits in on the appointment, transcribes it, and hands back a structured note in the patient’s own words — every line traceable to the moment it was said. It administers and scores the instruments you already use. What the material means is your call, and Alba does not offer an opinion.
Four things, and it does them in your order.
- Runs the intake you wrote. You supply the interview — the questions, the order, the follow-ups, the stopping rules. Alba asks them and keeps track of what has been covered. It does not decide what is clinically worth asking.
- Transcribes the encounter.Speaker-separated and timestamped, in any of fourteen languages. The audio and the transcript are yours, and you set how long either is kept.
- Assembles a structured note.Presenting concerns, history, current circumstances — organised into the sections your practice uses, in the patient’s words rather than paraphrased into a conclusion.
- Administers and scores standard instruments.PHQ-9, GAD-7, AUDIT and the rest, scored by each instrument’s own published algorithm, with every item response shown next to the total.
The list below is enforced in the software, not promised in a footer.
Software that reaches a clinical conclusion is a different kind of product with a different kind of obligation. Alba is built to stop short of that line. In the US configuration each of these is a gate in the code: a model that would produce one of them is refused before it runs, and the refusal is written to the audit log.
- ×No diagnosis, and no diagnostic suggestion.Alba will not name a condition, rank a differential, or tell you which criteria it thinks are met.
- ×No risk score. No suicide-risk flag, no severity rating of Alba’s own, no alert that a patient needs attention sooner.
- ×No treatment recommendation.Not a medication, not a modality, not a referral, not a next appointment.
- ×No triage of your caseload.Alba does not order, prioritise, or sort patients by anything it has inferred about them.
- ×No analysis of voice, tone, or affect.Alba reads what was said. It does not measure how it was said, and draws no inference from a speaker’s prosody, pauses, or emotional expression.
- ×No autonomous action.Nothing is filed, sent, or shared until you have read it and released it.
- ×Not for emergencies, and not for patients on their own.Alba is used by a licensed clinician or under one’s supervision. It is not a crisis service and not a self-assessment tool.
Nothing in the note is something you have to take on trust.
Every line Alba writes carries the span of transcript it came from. Click it and you are at the moment in the session, in the patient’s words, with the audio if you kept it. There is no step where information becomes a judgement out of sight.

Illustrative. No conclusion is drawn from the three observations above — drawing one is the clinician’s work.
The instructions Alba was given are visible to you too. You can read the exact interview script and the exact summarising instruction that produced any note, and you can change them.

Every vendor in this category writes “HIPAA compliant” on its website. Nobody issues that as a certificate, so the phrase carries whatever the vendor wants it to carry. We publish the specific version instead, including the parts that are not finished.

Bring your own intake form and we will run it next week.
The fastest way to find out whether this fits your practice is to hand us the intake interview you already use and see what comes back. No integration work, no migration.

This page describes the configuration offered in the United States. TalkToAlba is developed in the European Union, where a different configuration is being taken toward CE marking as a medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745. That version is not certified, is not offered here, and nothing on talktoalba.com describing it is an offer to US customers.
